Chicken Flavored Birthday Cake
Is your dog’s birthday coming up? Here’s a yummy recipe for birthday cake that will make your dog’s day. And the garlic fights fleas, too! That’s twice the reason to celebrate!
Ingredients:
1 chicken bouillon cube
1 c. Whole-wheat flour
2 c. Wheat germ
1/2 c. cornmeal
2 eggs
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1 TBSP minced garlic
2 c. warm water
Vegetable oil cooking spray — Garlic Flavor
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 375. Lightly spray 2 cake pans with cooking spray. Dust both pans with flour.
In a mixing bowl, dissolve the bouillon cube in the warm water. When it’s dissolved, add the other ingredients and mix well.
Bake for about 50 min. Let the cakes cool completely before serving.
Please note that it’s RAW garlic and onions that have been linked to hemolytic anemia in dogs. Both garlic powder and cooked garlic have not been shown to be toxic. I feed these to Sam and TRUST ME when I say that I wouldn’t give him anything that would hurt him!

If your dog loves a savory snack, try these chicken liver snacks out. They’ll be begging for more!
Ingredients:
2 c. whole wheat flour
3 tbsp vegetable oil
1 c. wheat germ or cornmeal
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 c. chicken broth
2 tsp. parsley
1 c. cooked chicken livers, chopped
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and grease your baking sheet.
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and wheat germ (or cornmeal).
In another large bowl, whisk the egg and oil. To this bowl, add the chicken broth and parsley, until it’s mixed well. Next, gradually add the flour and the wheat germ (or cornmeal) until combined. Finally, fold in the chopped livers. Mix until a firm dough forms.
Drop the dough on a floured surface and knead for a little bit. Roll the dough out until it’s about a ½ inch thick. Use your cookie cutters or a pizza cutter to cut it into desired shapes.
Bake for 15 min.
*Note: Because of the livers, I suggest storing these guys in the fridge.
Enjoy!
