Another Easy Dog Food Recipe: Dog Lovers Hamburger Dinner

Tags: , , , , ,

Here’s another super easy and tasty dog food recipe.  It’s pretty healthy, too.  Just make sure that you use lean ground beef.  This recipe will keep in the fridge for a few days, too, so if you want to double or even triple the recipe, go for it!

Ingredients:

1/2 lb. lean ground meat.
2 boiled eggs, diced
1/2 c. cooked plain oatmeal
1 jar baby food carrots
2 tbsp. cottage cheese

Directions:

Brown the ground beef in a skillet and then drain off the grease.  Mix all of the ingredients together and then let it cool.  This makes 1 serving for my black lab, Sam, but you can divide it into as many portions as need be.  Just make sure to refrigerate any leftovers.

Meaty Dog Biscuits

Ingredients:

2 3/4 c. whole wheat flour

1/2 c. powdered milk

1 tsp salt

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1 egg

6 tbsp vegetable oil

8-10 tbsp water

2 jars of strained baby food (beef, chicken or lamb)

Directions:

Preheat your oven to 350.

In a mixing bowl, mix all of the ingredients.

Knead the dough for about 3 minutes.

Roll it out until it’s about an inch thick.

Here’s the part where you break out the cute bone shaped cookie cutters!  Or you can use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into the desired size.

Bake the biscuits for 20-25 min. on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Makes about 24 biscuits.

Liver Treats

Liver Treats

Okay, I’ll be the first to admit…these don’t smell great cooking.  But if you want to get your spoiled dog to do just about anything, make a batch of these.

Ingredients:

1 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. cornmeal
1/2 c. wheat germ
1 tsp garlic powder
1 lb. beef liver

Directions:

Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees and grease a cookie sheet.

In a blender, liquify the beef liver.

In a mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients and the contents of the blender.  Mix well.

Using a teaspoon, drop the dough onto the lightly greased cookie sheet.  Make the spoonfuls as small or as large as you’d like.  This will determine the size of the treat.

Use a glass or cup to flatten out the spoonfuls of dough.  Hint:  Dip the glass in a little water and cornmeal to keep it from sticking ;)

Bake for 15 to 20 min.
