Doggy Muffins

Here’s another yummy sweet treat recipe.  Perfect for older dogs, where soft treats and cakes are the best option.

Ingredients:

2 tbsp. honey
2 3/4 c. water
1/4 c. unsweetened applesauce
1/8 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1/2 c. chopped peanuts
4 c. whole wheat flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg

Directions:

To get started, preheat your oven to 350 and lightly grease a muffin tin.

In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients and mix well. Place spoonfuls of the mix into your pre-greased muffin tin, filling about 2/3 full.

Bake for about 35 minutes.

Cool and serve!

  1. hey just so you know dogs should not have nutmeg it can cause serious health problems but your recipe would still be great without it.

  2. Hi Sarah,

You’re right. Nutmeg has been known to cause seizures, tremors and central nervous system problems. However, the small amount that is used in the above recipe has never caused my baby, Sam, any problems. And he’s allergic to everything!

Of course, the nutmeg can be omitted, if you either don’t have any on hand or if you don’t feel good about using it.
