Cheesy, Meaty Homemade Dog Food

This is a super easy dog food recipe that can be made with leftovers when you’re not up for cooking an elaborate meal for your favorite furry family member.


3 lb. protein (pork, chicken, turkey or beef)
1 c. cooked green beans or peas
1 c. shredded cheddar cheese
2 c. cooked brown rice


1. Cut the meat you’re using into bite-sized pieces and saute over medium heat until no longer pink.

2. In a large bowl, stir together the meat and cheddar cheese. Let it cool.

3. Once cool, add the rice and veggies and mix it all together.


Feeding Guidelines:

Small dogs: A portion is about 3/4 cup
Medium dogs: 1 1/2 cups
Large dogs: 3 cups

      Hi Emily! Growing up, I wanted a Jack Russell soooo bad. I swear, I don’t think I’ve ever gotten over it. Shhhh….don’t tell my black Lab Sam! ;)

      For your 15 pounder, 3/4 cup twice a day will be just about right.
